Time Flies
No, really. Kaia, I cannot believe how quickly this (almost) year has gone. It's the weekend of the Rosendale street festival already, and I was just remembering how last year I rode down on the back of the dirt bike, big as a house, so I wouldn't have to walk all that way back up the hill in the heat. I waddled down Main Street, sipped a lemonade, and headed home early. This year, your grandmother is going to babysit so your dad and I can go into town late and catch some music and a few drinks.
You are already walking, and talking just a little - your favorite words seem to be dada (you call me that now too) and vroom (whenever you see a motorcycle). Although you had been using other words more frequently, once you started walking you seemed to forget a few words - probably focusing so much on the new mobility that the talking thing seems less interesting. You know where your mouth, ears, nose, and belly button are, plus your toes! We're having a lot of fun with you this summer, and looking forward to Europe in a month or so. I'm NOT looking forward to the plane trip, but we'll survive.
You're sitting in my office now going through the trash, wearing my necklace, and basically being the incredibly good natured and happy little kid that you've been right from day one. How'd we get so lucky? And such a looker too! Just check out that baby butt.
We're still calling you Boo, and at this point, it's probably going to be your nickname from us forever. Love and kisses, Kaia-boo!
