It has come to our attention that there may be some confusion about the policy on sleeping through the night, based on some recently reported research. In the highly regarded book, "Your Baby's First Year, Week by Week," the chapter on week 11 of life clearly states ". . .by this time, your baby will likely be sleeping through the night. . ." The book goes on to define sleeping through the night as NOT WAKING UP between the hours of midnight and 5 am.
During the past week, we have repeatedly been awakened at times ranging from 1:30 am to 4:00 am (which is almost, but definitely NOT 5:00 am), and occasionally been awakened more than once during this timeframe on the same night. This is clearly out of compliance with the stated policy quoted above. We would very much appreciate your addressing this issue as soon as possible.
Please note that if it is NOT possible for you to comply in the near term with this directive, it would be most appreciated if you would arrange to schedule the specific wake-up period at a consistent time each night so that we can appropriately prepare.
We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. You have now, officially, gotten the memo.
