Made it to the real holidays!
So, we survived through two separate family holidays - at Jason's mother's in South Carolina and my parents in North Carolina. Talk about different. Daisy, the MFD (most favored dog) came along for the ride, and was well behaved for the majority of the trip. Notable exception - eating mom and dad's gold star out from under the table in the living room. Too long without toys, apparently.
We lugged a U-Haul worth of furniture back with us. I thought I was going to dream of a big green box wqith www.uhaul.com and a badly pixelated arrow on it since that dominated the back of the truck I was staring at for about 11 hours. Luckily, no. Unpacked, and then packed again, yesterday. So today we are off to Costa Rica.
I feel like I am a little underprepared for this trip. We've spent very little time on the basics like brushing up on the "donde estas" and poring over maps. Perhaps it's just that normally I am so type A that anythihng short of completely obsessive seems unprepared. Hopefully all will come off smoothly! My biggest concern is getting in and out of San Jose and picking up the bikes. Although we've rented very sucessfully with Admo internationally before, you can't help wondering whether they will really have the bikes you requested there and waiting for you. And the luggage situation is also a bit of a mystery. The nature of an adventure, I suppose. Perhaps I'll post from Puerto Jiminez over a marguerita in a few days.
