Leaps and Bounds

Hi Kaia-boo,

It's been a while since I've posted here, and it's so interesting to go back and read my last post - I can see how much you grow and develop each week and month! It's funny that in early May it was 95 degrees - I remember that day - since it hasn't been even close to that warm since. Mostly rain, rain, and more rain, and boy do you get sick of being cooped up inside all day! Luckily we got a reprieve yesterday and you were able to run around on the deck, splash in the pool, and get to the playground in the afternoon. Because you were running around naked all morning, we were able to sit you on the potty more frequently, and you peed in the potty for the first time! (Boy, I am sure you are going to someday be mortified that I've documented that online. Sorry.) We've not really started potty training in earnest yet, but it's neat to see that you're interested, at least.

I've been traveling a lot for work the past month, but you seem to take it all in stride - although you do seem to want to hang out with Mommy all the time when I am home. You seem to survive just fine when I'm not around, which is good - since my travel schedule shows no signs of letting up anytime soon.

Meanwhile, you have definitely become a very opinionated little girl, and what you think most often of all is "NO." Really doesn't matter what we've asked you, either. Gigi says you don't say no to her, but apparently you make up for it with Mom and Dad! You're still loads of fun, though, even though we're having to have some conversations about what is and isn't an appropriate way to talk to your mom and dad.

Funnest moment of the past couple of weeks? Wathing you on your first horseback ride. Sten and Carly graciously saddled up one of their minis with a tiny little western saddle. I was worried you might be a little scared, but all you could say is "More neigh? More neigh?" all afternoon. Now they're bugging me to throw up a fence and get a couple of minis myself. I'd never get to take a vacation again. . .

Love,

Mommy
