Memo to a Toddler
Dear Boo,
You keep getting cuter every darn day, which I have to say is a really good thing, especially since occasionally you drive me completely insane with the toddler refusal (the technical name for "No, No, No). I mean, I can intellectually accept that it's the way that you are learning to be independent, and that this will likely stop as you continue to expand your vocabulary, but for now, you've pretty much stymied Jason and I about how to respond. You have picked up "yeah" and "yes please" recently, so hopefully those will overtake No pretty quickly.
You are learning new words and phrases every day though - and are getting to be an excellent mimic, repeating new words with ease (Chee-to and GPS were two of my recent favorites). You are also stringing together several words at a time (Kaya yellow towel) and starting in with prepositions (Mine, you, here). But most of the vocab you have is made up of nouns - it will be interesting to see when you "get" the verb stuff because then I think you'll really have it. You understand just about everything, though.
And you've started potty training, and are doing quite well, especially when we let you run around without a diaper. At first it was just pooping in the potty but now you've got the idea and pee there too! Of course, the magazines are the big draw :-)
I love you, Kaia-boo. Now quit saying No all the time!
Mommy
